the garden over winter

Happy New Year!

After a busy autumn, Christmas and snowy new year. I have finally had some time to take have a walk round our gardens and take a few photos of what is currently looking good!

At the moment, the Betula ermanii is looking sensational. I have written about this plant before and the creamy pink bark is peeling nicely at the moment.

Also our Hamamelis (Witch Hazel) are starting to flower, with the Hamamelis x intermedia 'Jelena' looking particularly good at the moment with its long orange petals.

Finally, our most popular birch, Betula utilis var. jacquemontii 'Doorenbos' is as handsome as ever with its pure white winter bark, especially in the snowy weather we have had this winter.

Hopefully, we have finished with snow for the time being and all of us here are looking forwards to Spring!
