Hello there and welcome to the new Bluebell Arboretum and Nursery blog!
My name is Robert (the Younger) and I am one of the owners of Bluebell Nursery, a retail and mail order plant nursery in South Derbyshire, U.K. with many years of experience growing unusual trees and shrubs both on our nursery and in our surrounding nine acre arboretum (woodland garden).
The aim of this blog is to look at various beautiful trees and shrubs in the gardens as the year goes by, highlighting those with vivid autumn colour, handsome winter bark, spring flowers and anything else exciting in our gardens.
The garden is open to the public all year round and fairly young, with no plants in it older than about 16 years.

I should probably mention that the gardens showcase trees and shrubs and despite our name (its a long story!), we are not a traditional wood full of bluebells!
So to get the ball rolling, we'll start by looking at a tree with good, early autumn colour this year!
